UPCOMING EVENTS

14th February 2026

Following their sold-out Christmas concert last year, Contrepoint is delighted to return to Hereford with a brand-new programme designed to warm hearts and celebrate the season of love. Love from, Contrepoint is a Valentine’s concert that blends the group’s trademark precision and artistry with a playful spirit and romantic flair.

The evening will take audiences on a journey through the many faces of love: from the radiant sacred works of Renaissance masters such as Victoria and Monteverdi, to contemporary gems by living composers like Lucy Walker and William Cox. Alongside these treasures, audiences can expect new choral arrangements of classic pop love songs—familiar favourites reimagined in Contrepoint’s lush, vibrant sound. The result is a rich tapestry of music that speaks to love in all its forms: tender, passionate, joyful, and a little mischievous too.

With the warmth and intimacy of live voices filling the space, Love from, Contrepoint promises a night of connection, laughter, and beauty. Come and let yourself be serenaded—this is music signed, sealed, and delivered with love. 💌

Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610
Contrepoint with Exeter Festival Chorus

Few works in the choral catalogue rival the splendour and daring of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610. A masterpiece that bridges the Renaissance and the Baroque, the Vespers dazzles with its kaleidoscope of styles: majestic choral writing, sumptuous solo motets, and intimate chamber textures, all bound together by Monteverdi’s unmistakable dramatic flair.

In this performance, Exeter Festival Chorus joins forces with the acclaimed vocal ensemble Contrepoint, whose singers will bring their artistry and precision to the virtuosic solo roles. Together, with Devon Baroque Orchestra the combined forces will be capturing the vibrancy of early 17th-century Venice, with music of radiant grandeur and spiritual depth.

From the soaring opening Deus in adjutorium to the radiant final Magnificat, audiences will be immersed in a work of breathtaking contrasts—solemn devotion, ecstatic joy, and shimmering beauty. This collaboration between Exeter Festival Chorus and Contrepoint promises an unforgettable evening of one of the greatest sacred works ever written.
